Baia was the favorite place of Roman emperors and noble families to spend their holidays.
The reasons were the beauty of the landscape, the mild climate and the beneficial properties of the thermal waters that flowed from the volcanic subsoil.
In order to enjoy the thermal waters, the Romans built the architectural complex of Baia Thermal Baths, of wich today some remains are still visible among them those of the Majestic Temple of Mercury, which due to its circular shape with a diameter of about 21 meters resembles the Pantheon.
The Temple of Mercury is covered by a hemispherical dome which is the oldest example of a large spherical dome.
A extraordinary event is then inserted into the wonder of the archaeological remains, in a structure located a few meters away from the temple of Mercury, a fig tree upside down grown.
This is a wild fig tree born from the root of another fig tree that was above the vault and that has developed the root system upwards and the leafy one downwards.
After the visit we will go to the sub-fields of Phlegrae center to make a unique experience in the world: the visit of the underwater city of Baia.
You can choose to do snorkeling in the underwater city of Baia, guided by a qualified staff who will show you mosaics, statues, remains of villas that are still below sea level due to bradyseism, a volcanic phenomenon typical of the Campi Flegrei.
Or you can choose to do Scuba Diving.
Even if you have never taken a diving lesson, you can try diving with a breathing apparatus at low depth accompanied by an expert instructor.
The experience consists of a theoretical lesson with the instructor and a guided dive in one of the sites of Baia Underwater Archaeological Park at a depth between 3 and 6 mt.
No equipment is needed, the sub-fields of Phlegrae center will provide you with everything you need to dive.
All of our tours can be accompanied by a cooking lesson held by a local at her private house or by a visit to a local winery for a wine and food tasting

The Archaeological Museum of the Phlegraean Fields can be visited throughout the year, the best time is spring and autumn, in the summer period it is obviously more crowded.
