Tour of Bacoli and Monte di Procida

We will start with a pleasant walk through the historic center of Bacoli, admiring the striking image of the Sibilla Cumana depicted by the famous street artist Agoch Jorit, and arrive at the Cento Camerelle archaeological site overlooking the Bacoli Marina beach.

The name Cento Camerelle is due to the numerous rooms and underground tunnels that make up the structure, which is the oldest system of cisterns built in a private villa and used for water collection and fish breeding.

It is believed that the villa also belonged to Emperor Nero, who in this place in 59 AD had his mother Agrippina killed.

We will then continue with the visit of Piscina Mirabilis, the largest cistern ever built by the ancient Romans, which served to supply water to the numerous ships belonging to the Roman fleet that moored in the port of Miseno.

Right after we will see the Miseno Theater, the Sacello degli Augustali and the Grotta della Dragonara, whose remains are partly hidden by the urban landscape or submerged by bradyseism.

From Bacoli we will take the scenic route that leads to the "stupor mundi" viewpoint of Monte di Procida, to admire a wonderful and unique landscape in the world.

We will conclude the tour at a local winery for a wine tasting and a snack.

All of our tours can be accompanied by a cooking lesson held by a local at her private house or by a visit to a local winery for a wine and food tasting

Bacoli and Monte di Procida can be visited all year round, the best period is spring and autumn, the summer period is obviously more crowded.
