Visit Cuma and the Arco Felice Vecchio in the Phlegraean Fields

Cuma was the first colony of the ancient Greeks in Italy, then conquered by the Romans who settled throughout the territory of the Phlegraean Fields. The Arco Felice Vecchio, 20 meters high and 6 meters long, is an impressive work of engineering built by the Romans and located along the road that connects the city of Pozzuoli to the ancient Acropolis of Cuma. Recently, in the famous Walt Disney comic strip Mickey Mouse an episode was published set in this area of the Phlegraean Fields, with Donald Duck as the protagonist who works as a stonemason for Uncle Scrooge.

The story is inspired by a contract for the sale of a house located near the Arco Felice Vecchio, reported in one of the oldest documents preserved in the State Archives of Naples. Obviously the story is very funny with Donald Duck making his usual blunders.

I strongly recommend you visit the Phlegraean Fields, a territory still little known by mass tourism, you will travel back in time, see enchanting landscapes and meet friendly and communicative locals.
